At Mission's state-designated Level II Trauma Center, we are here to save lives. Patients with life and limb threatening injuries come through our doors and are met by an organized, highly-trained, multidisciplinary team dedicated to their care. As western North Carolina's only designated Level II Trauma Center, we are here 24 hours a day to serve western North Carolina residents and visitors who have suffered major trauma.

A Designated Trauma Center
The state of North Carolina granted us the designation as a level II center only after we had documented to teams of trauma experts our experience of providing quality care to trauma patients. Mission must also meet a host of criteria and standards set by the state's Office of Emergency Services.
To effectively treat medical crises, the trauma care team has developed an extensively coordinated plan to care for trauma patients. Mission's Trauma Center is a hospital-wide system of care staffed by experienced professionals totally committed to the trauma victim. A major component of that system of care is our close working relationship with community hospitals, first-responders and EMS who evaluate, stabilize and prepare major trauma victims to move to Mission for specialized care.
